Successful difficult conversations

Has your school’s team culture been on your mind?

Over a third of the heads I speak to raise something about their team’s culture.

But culture is abstract. Hard to pin down.

At its core, it’s just people. What they do, day in, day out.

It’s behaviour across time. Just like it is in the classroom.

And just like the classroom, sometimes it’s small:

The staff room dishwasher that no one empties.

The coats left on the floor instead of the pegs.

The late data submission.

Sometimes it’s bigger.

But it’s rarely dramatic.

It builds up slowly, in a hundred small choices.

I’ve been looking at cultures in high performing schools.

And I’ve noticed a key difference in their teams.

Find out more using the the learning style that works for you:

  1. I share it in this 5 minute video (at top of the page).
  2. Or you can see where your team sits — using my quiz. It takes a couple of minutes, and it’s more useful than any spreadsheet.
  3. If it would help to talk through where your team’s at, Jack from my team is around this summer. He speaks with heads about exactly this, every week. It’s not a sales call. It’s just a conversation, with someone who gets it. Book 30 minutes with Jack →

Summer is for resting, but I know it’s for reflecting too. I hope these emails are helping, whatever this summer is for you.
