There’s something about the run-up to September that feels different from any other time of year.
New pens. Fresh planners. That flicker of possibility and excitement about what this year could be.

One of my favourite things to do this time of year is look at what excellent schools are doing differently.
There’s always something new to borrow, adapt, or steal outright.
So here are three short reels, three heads, three brilliant schools:
Clockhouse Primary — Jo Savidge, on turning a school stuck in “requires improvement” into outstanding.
Nine Acres Primary — becoming the first outstanding school on the Isle of Wight in over a decade.
Irk Valley — a school in a challenging context, but shining so bright and in so many ways.
