Do 95%+ of your team work at least as hard as you?
58% of school leaders say *no*.
And yet…
77% say 95%+ of their staff are driven by what’s best for the children.
So where’s the disconnect?
It might come down to how we define “working hard.”
Too often, it’s measured in *hours*.
And we notice when someone’s not putting in the same time we are.
But I’ve seen it—schools where staff have a brilliant work–life balance and deliver excellence.
Because hard work doesn’t have to mean long hours.
It can mean focused, purposeful, high-impact work.
And that starts with culture.
Yes, school roles are demanding.
And yes, there are times that require more from us.
But here’s something to reflect on:
– If you were only allowed to work 6 hours a day—but still had to get the same results—what would have to change?
(Tip: think about this without spending money or getting more resources – you’ll be surprised what you come with.)
– How clear are your team about what a great impact looks like?
– Are you building a culture that rewards smart, intentional effort—or just visible busyness?
If your team *cares* but isn’t always *contributing*, it’s worth a deeper look.

Spotlight Resource:
How many superstars are really on your team?
Most schools have good people working hard.
But outstanding schools? They have teams full of *superstars*.
In this short video, I’ll walk you through a simple but powerful exercise to assess your team—splitting them into three groups:
– 🌟 Superstars (you’d clone them if you could)
– 🤝 The solid middle (doing a good job)
– ❌ Those who may be draining energy or holding things back
This isn’t about blame—it’s about clarity. Because once you know where your team really is, you can start to move the numbers.
