I love this photo:

Why? Because it communicates so much about this school.

The head, Beth, laughs when I talk about her guitars on the wall. But it communicates so much:

We value music, but also, that their pupils have great behaviour. Because I know in some schools guitars on the wall wouldn’t stay there for long and damage could occur.

I can judge a school accurately in 30 seconds and the environment is the clue – it’s communicating our expectations and standards all the time.

So what is your environment communicating?

If you’d like to learn more about how schools move from good to great, including some powerful tips that will improve your environment for your children (and it’s not what you think it is) them come to Breaking the Glass Ceiling of Good – 1 day workshop
